Using Analytics & Automation to Simplify Crew Manager Tasks 09/24/2019 How can intelligent analytics and smart process automation simplify the day in the life of a crew manager?  What are some of the everyday operations that a rail freight crew manager is responsible for, and how can they benefit from automation of processes like crew scheduling, allocation, and time-tracking?  In this webinar, Sr. Railroad Consultant and Program Manager Shannon Bloxom will address these questions, which impact short lines as much as Class I railroads. She’ll outline the challenges that crew managers face in their day-to-day jobs and take a look at how to automate processes for crew managers, streamlining their workflows as they leverage the power of crew analytics to drive efficiencies in crew management functions. Shannon will also speak on how crew analytics give valuable insights into metrics like crew utilization ratios and available crew so that the crew managers can reduce delays that often result from crew unavailability. She will interview Amber Davenport, a rail industry expert and currently a crew manager for a leading Class I railroad. Add to Calendar

Meeting Positive Train Control (PTC) Host Requirements Pt. 1 09/26/2019 This is the first of a two-part webinar series that discusses important requirements that PTC tenant railroads must meet to obtain and maintain permission to operate over a host railroad’s PTC territory.  This first webinar focuses on interoperability, including industry initiatives to manage interoperable PTC and tenant security measures needed to keep the interoperable PTC communication pathways protected.  The second webinar will address specific evidence of compliance with PTC host requirements that must be maintained by PTC tenants for the full life-cycle of PTC, and describe tools to assist ASLRRA members in meeting these long-term requirements.   Implications for hosted service providers will also be discussed at each webinar. Effective On-the-Job Training (OJT) Strategies 10/02/2019 The best job training happens at work. Whether it is part of new hire training, role upgrades, or career development, on-the-job training programs ensure that railroads set their employees up for success and also stay compliant.  The daily challenge of handling large trainee counts, infrastructure for training for specific job roles, and the management of training requirements in 49 CFR 243 is real. Organizations are often left wanting for effective, performance-based strategies that deliver effective training while meeting compliance at the same time.  In this webinar, Sr. Railroad Consultant Ashok Madhavan will cover strategies which can make your OJT programs simple, effective, and compliant in today’s rail transportation industry. At the end of the webinar, there will be a 20 minute Q&A session with him on effective on-the-job training programs and challenges. Add to Calendar

Ops Testing w/ Employee Performance Tracking for Compliance 11/06/2019 This webinar will cover operations testing with performance tracking and employee accountability for safety compliance. For short line and regional railroads, tracking employee performance and ensuring they align with regulatory safety standards and operating procedures is an important part of ensuring safety and security in the organization.  However, without an effective ops testing program and access to consolidated tools for tracking employee accountability due to lack of visibility into employee history (like demerits, drug and alcohol testing failures, or verbal cautions) across locations, Labor Relations and railroads meeting safety goals becomes challenging.  In this webinar, Sr. Railroad Consultant and Program Manager Ashok Madhavan will address these challenges and share how short line and regional railroads can ensure effective ops testing with performance tracking to build employee accountability for safety compliance. Ashok will share tips to build a robust ops testing program, how to track employee performance through accountability tools, and help labor relations to improve safety. He will also outline best practices to respond to violations and set up policies to track employee performance. Add to Calendar

Digitalize REN & ISS to Improve Compliance & Settlements 12/03/2019 Digitally transform REN and ISS to improve compliance and accelerate the settlement lifecycle. Often providing the first and last mile of service, short line and regional railroads play a critical role in the freight transportation network. Interchanging with larger, Class I railroads, short lines must manage a large amount of revenue settlements involved in a route. Compliance with the Railway Accounting Rules (RAR) and Rate EDI Network (REN) is mandatory.  In this webinar, industry expert and CloudMoyo Product Manager Bishram Keshri will share how short line and regional railroads can digitally transform REN and ISS to accelerate the settlement lifecycle, reduce time and costs, and improve compliance by managing ISS within a REN-complaint, secure environment with increased visibility into the settlement process.  Bishram will outline how digitalizing ISS will help you enjoy an accelerated revenue lifecycle through automation of the interline settlement processes, reduce time and cost while increasing revenue, and be better equipped to meet mandatory compliances through ISS.
