    SEARS 2021 Spring Meeting 04/12/2021 Virtual Southeast Association of Rail Shippers The Southeast Association of Rail Shippers serves a diverse membership in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Members represent such areas as heavy and light industry, mining, consumer products, forest products, agriculture, port operations and service organizations. Meetings are held twice a year in the spring and fall at various locations in the assigned territory. Topics of discussion are selected by members and cover a cross section of interests.     DHS & CISA Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems Training Course 04/20/2021 Virtual The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Region VII (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska) invites you to participate in the New Mexico Tech “Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS)” course hosted through Zoom. This course provides first responders, emergency managers, security directors/managers with the knowledge and tools necessary to detect, identify, track, assess, respond and report UAS activity. Participants are presented with information on the current UAS terrorist and criminal threat, technology, and analog and electronic detection techniques. Participants are guided through demonstrations and exercises on the varying UAS types, their capabilities, and simulated threats involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. Recognize Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) uses and components 2. Recognize the threat posed by the criminal and terrorist use of commercially available Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) technology. 3. Identify Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) tactics available to emergency first responders. 4. Recognize regulations, laws, and policies pertaining to the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). 5. Discuss CUAS Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) used throughout a case study. 6. Identify TTPs to detect UAS activity using visual, audio or technological resources. 7. Distinguish between types of UAS, payloads, and legal/safe operations. 8. Recognize effective methods to track UAS activity and communicate to appropriate authorities. 9. Assess Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) activity and recommend response options and considerations 10. Discuss response considerations to respond and deter unsafe, unauthorized, illegal, or terrorist Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) activity 11.     Railroad Track Inspection & Safety Standards 04/26/2021 - 04/30/2021 Galveston, TX Under new Federal training rule requirements, this workshop is the first in the nation to be FRA Part 243 reviewed and approved. CTR's most popular railroad workshop focuses on the basic principles of track inspection. The 4-1/2 day course concentrates on requirements of the FRA Track Safety Standards, 49 CFR, Part 213, though contents are applicable to any railroad’s internal track standards. Since 1992, more than 400 organizations–including Class 1s, shortlines, commuter agencies, industries, contractors, and consulting engineers–have sent employees to this outstanding program. In fact, many railroads use this program to meet the training and demonstration of knowledge requirements found in Part 213.7, designation of qualified persons.     Basic Railroad Track Maintenance 05/10/2021 - 05/11/2021 Knoxville, TN This workshop provides two days of classroom instruction on basic track maintenance practices, with an emphasis on shortline, branchline, and industrial freight track of FRA Class 1 or 2 (25 mph or less). The course presents the basic elements of railroad track, identifies maintenance issues, presents principles of maintenance planning, and discusses maintenance approaches suited for this type of track.
