ASLRRA’s 2020 Connections Convention is Going Virtual! 

The 2020 Connections Convention is going to be online this year, and we’re committed to making it better than ever, with insights from key figures in our industry, timely panel discussions, deep-dive breakout sessions, and interactive Q&A and virtual networking for half the regular price (plus, no airfare, travel, or lodging costs). Log on from the comfort of your home or office and choose from a great selection of live and on-demand content.

If you’re already registered for the 2020 Annual Convention (originally scheduled for May 2-5 in Grapevine, TX) or your company had signed up as a sponsor and/or exhibitor, you’ll be contacted directly by an ASLRRA staff member about transferring your commitment to this year’s virtual event (our first choice and your best option!), next year’s conference, or requesting a refund. You can also reach out directly to Amy Westerman regarding registration or Kathy Keeney regarding sponsorships and exhibits. While we will not host a true virtual exhibit hall, we will offer our Grapevine sponsors and exhibitors dynamic marketing packages that include visibility at the virtual conference as well as branding options that extend through the next seven months. Those packages will have the look and feel of a sponsorship of the Association for 2020.

A Message From Our President

As much as we all long to get together in-person to network, negotiate, learn, and share stories, ASLRRA must put the safety of our members first, and we believe that this is the most responsible decision and in everyone’s best interest. However, while virtual can’t entirely replicate in-person, we do fully intend to deliver an exceptional content and educational experience that will ensure attendees are informed, enlightened, and up-to-date on all things short line. 

And being completely candid with you, our members, we do need your support for this conference – we need those of you who had already registered and signed up to sponsor and exhibit to stick with those commitments, and we need additional attendees too. The Association counts on the conference to be a profitable event which contributes significantly to the Association’s annual budget and funds many of the activities over the rest of the year that are so valuable to you – the advocacy on issues like the 45G tax credit, CRISI grants, truck size and weight issues, crew size mandates, the safety regulatory work at the FRA on issues like the Part 243 Training Standards, and the economic regulatory work at the STB on topics such as demurrage, reciprocal switching, and revenue adequacy. We are committed to making this virtual conference substantively successful, and we need it to be financially successful. We hope that you’ll give it a shot – and with no airfare and hotel costs associated with attending, you can participate and still spend significantly less than your original plans.
