Railroad Day on Capitol Hill 03/02/2017 Renaissance Downtown; Washington, DC Railroad Day on Capitol Hill is only successful if a very large number of you attend. It is a day that can have a very positive impact on you. You put the real life face on the issues that matter most to our industry. When you turn out in force you demonstrate that those issues affect a large group of individuals who employ an even larger group of people from across the country. And you can't rely on the other guy to carry your message. You need to come to Washington and join with your fellow rail industry workers to help drive home to Congress the important role that this industry plays in restoring America's economy, improving America's environment, and connecting America in the global marketplace. The continued success of this event is absolutely dependent on your participation. Please join us on March 2! Add to Calendar

Railroad Track Inspection & Safety Standards Workshop 03/13/2017 - 03/17/2017 Chattanooga, TN Track is the foundation of the railroad's physical plant. Although railroad track components are relatively simple in concept, they interact in a complex fashion to form a system capable of withstanding the extremely large forces applied by rail vehicles. Safe and reliable train operations rely upon the track system remaining within established specifications. Because the combined effects of traffic and environment degrade track, regular inspection is essential to identify defects and initiate remedial action before problems develop. This course describes track defects and acceptable corrective actions, presents a recommended methodology for conducting inspections, and discusses in depth the Federal Track Safety Standards in 49 CFR, Part 213.
